Come Dancing Orchestra

Come Dancing Orchestra - Cha Cha
CD,DVD,MP3
It’s a series of classic ballroom dance releases, which gives even the beginner a chance to try out their moves!
Named after its inventor, Harry Fox, the foxtrot was first introduced to audiences in 1914 when Harry was doing trotting steps to ragtime music at the New York Theatre. Initially known as Fox’s Trot, the name got shortened and the style grew in popularity.
Originally known as the Cha-Cha-Cha, the dance evolved as an offshoot of the mambo and became extremely popular from the mid 1950s onwards. A slower dance than the mambo, the dance consists of three quick steps (triple step or cha cha cha) and two slower steps on the one beat and two beat.
Of European and African heritage, the mambo has come to be most usually associated with Cuba and today is a theme that is played in unison by the rhythm section and acts as a link between two improvised passages.
In its purest form, the rumba is a sexual pantomime, danced extremely fast and with exaggerated hip movements. The male dancer adopts an aggressive attitude, the female a defensive one, but combined they offer one of the most popular of the ballroom dances.
Derived from the German word 'walzen' (to roll, turn or to glide) the waltz was born in Austria and found a natural home in the ballrooms of the Hapsburg court. A dance in 3/4 time and with a strong accent on the first beat and a basic pattern of step-step-close, the waltz is probably the most gracious of all the ballroom dance styles.
