Rouben Hakhverdyan was born in Yerevan in 1950, where he worked at the State Television Network and studied at the capital’s Theatre Institute. He earned a degree in Television and Theatre Direction in 1975.
A self-taught musician and poet, Rouben has written and staged a number of musicals, of which “Satan’s Watermill” is a popular influences, Rouben’s music has also been shaped by popular music of the 60s.
He performs eccentric, extraordinary music by guitar. He is grateful to Armenian outstanding poet Hamo Sahyan for the lyrics of his songs. Today, Rouben is celebrated as a modern troubadour (composer, poet, performer) in both Armenia and the Diaspora.
