The transformation from Australian television actress to worldwide singing superstar is a journey that has taken Kylie from being the girl next door in 'Neighbours' to one of her generation's most instantly recognisable celebrities and sex symbols. Her acting career began at the age of eleven in programmes such as 'Skyways' and 'The Sullivans' but it was her role as Charlene Mitchell that brought her international recognition. A charity event in Melbourne in 1989 launched her on a singing career, one that encompassed pop hits such as 'I Should Be So Lucky' and 'Tears On My Pillow' to MTV, Brit and Grammy Awards and her evolution into a dance diva.
It has not all been plain sailing however, for Kylie has had to work hard to be accepted as a credible singer and in 2005 she announced she was battling breast cancer.
